The Book

A door into a world that should have remained sealed

Rowan has spent his life surviving the gutters of Morvane, a city built on hunger, silence, and the indifference of the powerful. When he witnesses a nobleman’s murder in a fog-choked alley, he is taken by the Crimson Fang, the king’s most feared enforcer, and dragged beneath the city into a prison no one escapes.

Below Morvane, people are not imprisoned. They are sorted. Some are fed on. Some are broken. Some are chosen for darker purposes tied to the ancient thing sleeping under the city’s foundations. As Rowan is pulled upward through vampire courts, blood-bound houses, and rituals older than the kingdom itself, he learns that his capture was never an accident. The prison knows him. The gate below answers him. And the blood in his veins may be tied to the very machinery that keeps Morvane from being devoured.

Caught between a king who would use him, a court that would claim him, and a monster beneath the world that has begun to whisper his name, Rowan must decide what he is willing to become to survive.

Because in Morvane, no one is kept alive without a reason. And when the Black Cathedral opens, survival may cost more than death.

Dark Gothic Atmosphere

Shadowed stone, sacred ruin, blood-bound power, and a city that feels hungry even in silence.

Grim and Ominous

Brutal court politics, mythic horror, and the slow pull of monstrous systems closing around the living.

Debut of The Morvane Cycle

The first entry in a dark fantasy world built to feel ancient, cinematic, and merciless.

Author

Vaughn Silver

I write dark fantasy about hunger, power, and the things people become to survive. My work blends gothic atmosphere, brutal court politics, and mythic horror with deeply human characters caught inside monstrous systems. My stories explore what people become when survival demands more than they ever thought they could give, and I also plan to weave romance into future work. The Black Cathedral, Book One of the Morvane Cycle, is my debut novel.
